The Essential Music Together^® Class

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through kindergarten through all nine song collections. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments.

The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience, and any caregiver - parents, nanny, grandparents - can bring the child(ren) to class. During the Fall, Winter and Spring trimesters, classes meet once a week for 9, 10, or 11 weeks. During the summer, classes meet once a week for 6 weeks.

Early Exposure to Music and Movement

Every child's music development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older sibling. Babies eight months and under may also take the special "Babies Class" offerred as a one-trimester introduction to Music Together (this class may not be repeated). 

The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby. 

Although most three-and-a-half through five year olds thrive in a mixed age environment, we do have another option for your family. In this family-style class, which still looks very much like a mixed-age class, you and your child may experience additional musical activities such as rhythm improvisation, independent singing, dance improvisation, and dramatic play. Teachers work with individual skill levels and interest. Younger siblings are welcome to attend this class with their older brothers and sisters.
